About the Department

The Orange Volunteer Fire Company serves as the primary fire department for the Town of Orange and central portions of Orange County. The department is located in the Town of Orange at 205 Caroline Street. Our department is unique because it houses and serves as the primary Truck Company for central and western Orange County.

Each month our fire company conducts weekly training drills which serve to improve the skills of all our personnel. We host weekly and monthly work details to ensure the equipment we use is always prepared to complete the challenges met on the street. The level of dedication and commitment needed to run the department are monumental; however, the pride and ownership that ride parallel to each of the responsibilities we face remain unprecedented.

We are a diverse department of different backgrounds which makes us a great fit for you. Our members have backgrounds in telecommunications, fire/rescue, landscaping, plumbing, electrical, teaching, automotive repair, engineering, and much more. As a group, we cohesively make the Orange Volunteer Fire Company what it is and stands to represent.

We offer Active Membership and Associate (Auxiliary) Membership opportunities. Both types of membership we are more than happy to review with you to find what would fit you best to serve in our department. We certainly appreciate you visiting our webpage to learn more about who we are, where we have come from, and where we strive to go.

Volunteer Spotlight

Logan Douglas – Firefighter – OVFC

Logan is an enthusiastic and great new addition to OVFC. He joined the department this summer and has taken the fire service by storm with his eagerness to learn and evolve as a firefighter.

“I decided to join the fire service because I see that there is a need for young, future firefighters in Orange County. I want to learn leadership and teamwork skills and consider the fire department a huge opportunity to not only learn the skills but help the community.”

Why the Orange Volunteer Fire Company?

The fire service is one of the most challenging and diverse opportunities out there. Each call requires precision, skill, and the ability to work collectively in a teach fashion to help someone else with their emergency or crisis. Our department takes pride in our training. We not only train in house but will support our members by supplying them with the necessary funding they need to go out and achieve their training. It goes without saying that a well trained individual creates a well trained fire department so we push out Active members to achieve any amount of training they can wherever they choose to go after it.

Beyond training, although we are rich in history, we strive to not let history impede progress. We have always worked hard to develop our department, fine tune our tactics, and ensure we don’t allow ourselves to become complacent. We will always ensure we focus every effort on our members to keep them involved and proud of the organization they serve under.

Active Membership

Active membership with us opens the door to a multitude of opportunities. After completing probation and the minimum class requirements, the active member has the ability to serve as a fully functional firefighter. Probation and class combined typically last one year for any new active member joining without certification.

Members who join with previous certification and experience will serve a brief probationary period but be given opportunities for release in a much shorter period of time. During probation, members will be given time to complete a basic release process that ensures competency of skill and understanding of policies within OVFC. Once released, an Active Member is expected to serve in the full capacity as a released firefighter for our department.

Associate Membership

We offer associate membership as another way of serving in the fire company. Our associate members, although they don’t ride the apparatus, serve in many important ways with the company. They provide support services on fire scenes when called upon, assist us with fundraising throughout the year, and take on needed roles identified by the leadership of the company. Although associate members are not actively fighting a fire, they remain active in their role of assisting the fire company to operate each and every day. We encourage you to consider associate membership if you feel that you have a skillset and drive that would benefit our fire company in any way.
